Inspired by dragonflies, one of the most maneuverable creatures on Earth, Meganeura uses compound cameras with thousands of hexagonal lenses to obtain a detailed 360° view of the surroundings. This allows Meganeura to quickly change its direction. This allows Meganeura to operate in bad weather and to evade any birds that try and attack the drone.

Why This Design?
Meganeura uses a hexagonal design to allow redundancy in the design without using too many propellers and wasting efficiency. Meganeura's hexagonal design will allow 6 cameras attached under the propeller rods and 1 all-direction camera on the top. This design allows 360° vision for the drone. We evaluated carbon fiber to be the best material because it is strong, cheap, and light.
Lithium-ion batteries have been considered the best rechargable batteries in the world because of it's light weight, high energy density, and regular availability. This makes lithium-ion batteries the ideal battery for Meganeura since we want the drone to be as light as possible while also having high energy density.
